If anyyyone is seeing him at the Riverstage in Brisbane this arvo…die? Haha.
I had tickets for my brother and I to see him + Jack (and Zach Gill haha), but he has some very important footy final…and I’ve just managed to stop crying my eyessss out haha. I wanted to finally see them both live so badly. =[

i was lucky enough that the concert was all ages
and it was so, so amazing. i loved every second
of the show. even standing in the line for an
hour while it was -20+ outside.

i seen him when he came to toronto recently, at
the pheonix concert theatre, with johnathan
rice, who is also amazing !

i think he started with yellow taxi, than lilacs
and than trying to lose my mind, and than my
rose, and than mr. pitiful, cigarette eyes, behind
the moon, cold december, vienna, and than a
bunch of his friends came out and sang emergancy
call with him and the band, and than he left
but of course came back to do astair =]

the show was really amazing though. sang to
every song, and i was just like so lost in
the show, and it was just an amazing
birthday gift lol

him and the whole band are such amazing
musicians and performers.i can’t wait
till they comes back again =]

i was hoping to see him after the show
but it was far to cold.. for my friend
i was willing, but she needed warmth lol

anywhoo that’s my story lol

I’ve been lucky enough to see him twice, and he blew my mind both times. I’m in my mid twenties, so the age thing doesn’t bother me either. Sucks to be underage though.

OK I feel really old right now…I am 48 and saw Matt last December (2007) in Tucson Arizona and loved every minute of it!  He opened for Modest Mouse and Matt stole the show as far as I am concerned! Although I love MM too! Keep listening all ages…Matt is just good music!

That’s why I prefer 21+ shows ... I’m only 22, but sometimes all-ages makes me feel old. The plus side of all-ages, though, seems to be fewer obnoxious drunk people picking fights right in front of the stage during “Vienna.” Hm ... conundrum.

I saw him live in Atlanta a couple weekends ago, and he was phenomenal. The way he connected with the music was intense, and you knew he was completely passionate about each and every song. He is the best performer and artist I’ve come upon/seen live in a very long time.

:)

I totally agree with you on the connection with the music. Not only that, he’s clearly just having a fantastic time, and that makes all the difference.

Saw him in NC on 3/12.  He was fantastic and the band is really tight.

My only complaint was that he only played one set for about an hour and 10 minutes or so.  I was hoping for a longer show…

shows so far this year….

1.22 Matt’s CD release and signing @ Fingerprints- Long Beach, CA-  it was a nice and small crowd (for a small place).  He played “Josephine” which I believe has been mentioned here. His set included most of the songs on the new cd of course.  Highlight of the night: There was this girl who was quite entertaining. In between songs she shouted out things, which was great in the sense that Matt responded and would talk and story tell.  But after a while, some people were rather annoyed and shouts went back to her to “be quiet!!.  Met Matt for the first time after the show.  My take home goodies: a signed poster and cd.

2.1 Troubadour, Hollywood, CA-  played a great combo of songs from Unfamiliar Faces and Songs We Sing.  I didn’t feel packed in there like little sardines in can, which was a good thing!and fellow concertgoers seemed a little on the “quiet” side around me.…but I had a good time!

ditto. all-ages show somehow makes me feel out of place, though i’m not exactly ancient.

i saw him for the first time at the kool haus in toronto back in december, i believe. he opened for bedouin soundclash. it was a short set. didn’t get the full matt costa concert experience until last month at an all-ages show at the phoenix in toronto. he sounds truly amazing live. he sang “vienna”, which i don’t think was really that well received - people around me were chatting and it totally ruined the moment for me.

I saw him for the first time this past Sunday. It was AMAZING.

Some artists really suck live, but he was ridiculous! It was so good. I was so bummed when it was over.

dude im in the same boat as you. 16 year old Vancouver kid and i cant get into any off his concerts. I drove down to seattle and saw him play though. Amazing night

damn you guys that sucks that you can’t get in because of your age. but to be honest, i really wouldn’t care if they told me i can’t see my favorite artist because i’d be too young. crawl through a window or sneek in a door. anything, seriously

I’m 16 and managed to see him without sneaking in.
