So I saw him on the 6th at his Carrboro show in NC. I was a little unsure of how it was going to be with the crowd that had filtered in. When you get past the groupies, the people there just trying to find something to do on a Thursday and finally get settled with a group that is there for the music and out of respect for him….it was awesome. He opened with Yellow Taxi which seems to be the norm for him. The guys in his band are great and all amazing musicians. He was having some equip. problems, from the accident, but was really great about trying to fix it fast and get back to what he was playing. I’m fuzzy on the exact order of the setlist, but he played: Miss Magnolia, Mr Pitiful, Lilacs, Cold December, Astair, Emergency Call, Sunshine, Unfamiliar Faces, Movin On, Oh Dear, Sweet Rose, Ballad of Miss Kate, and some more, he also played a new song during his encore, which was really good. He was great and seeing him live is in the top five out of all the artists I’ve ever seen. I also got to talk to him after the show for a while. I was a group of abotu six of us and it was really neat to ask him whatever we wanted and he answer. He was very humble and he has a great sense of humor. So all in all it was a fantastic experience and I can’t wait to see him again.

How old are all you people because that seems to be a big problem at matt costa concerts. There is an age restriction. I think most of his fans are younger.

I’m in my mid-twenties so show going isn’t an inssue for me BUT the show I did attend was at an all ages venue so there were a lot of the high school crowd there. Hopefully next time around Matt will hit venues that are all ages in your area so you can get to see him. I just hope he keeps doing the smaller venue circut because I’d hate to see him start doing stadiums and such. Paying 13 bucks to go see a great show is a plus in my book.

I love him in the small venues. so intimate. you feel like hes a friend

Not only that but once an artist gets to BIG it isn’t the same anymore, you don’t have the access you had when they were hitting the smaller venues. I have been listening to a couple artists that used to do what Matt’s doing and were really cool back then, but now one or two are big names and big douche bags that it kinda makes you loose repect for them. And I agree you almost feel as if he’s you friend or could be because he’s a really charming guy.

it was so funny when i saw him. Im from vancouver and i saw him in seattle, and right before he played miss magnolia he sprinkled ” canadian cedar bark dust” on the stage. It made me laugh so hard because he said it was good luck and it smelt good. Thats the kind of thing you lose in a big venue.
