Does Matt Costa smoke?

I think it’s kinda funny that everyone is like “oh my god, my innocent little matt smokes tobacco sometimes.”

If you listen to songs like “manic man” and “whiskey and wine” you’ll see this side of him.  I don’t really think it’s a bad thing if he smokes some tobacco.  The beatles did and they sang great.  He just shouldn’t smoke too much.  I don’t know hum, but I don’t see him as an addictive personality….well the song whiskey and wine kind of contradicts this statement though.

That’s sort of like an oxymoron, isn’t it? And if The Beatles jumped off a cliff, that would be okay, too, yes? Hahaha.

matts not a regular cigarette smoker. he’s a rare smoker and from my experiences only smokes when he’s drunk (after the shows)

as for the OTHER stuff he might smoke…......only alone in his bedroom. from what i remember.

now…...can we go back to talking about music?

I agree…she is horrible. I’ve never heard such droning. Why do so many celebs try to cross over into something that they clearly can’t do. What assholes.

It does if you take it literally, but I figure it’s more metaphor than anything else.

Also, isn’t “Trying to Lose My Mind” written in that same vein? Or am I completely making that up? It’s entirely possible. I’ve been on island time for six weeks and have been out of the loop.

Yes I see what you are saying about Trying to Lose My Mind, I think I read an article somewhere that it is loosly based off taking pain killers and the numbness that follows, i wouldl link it but I have to remember where i read it or maybe i’m just out of the loop, damn now it’‘s going to bother me, i’m gonna go look for it…

never liked his cover of “darling be home soon” that was up for free on his page back in 04.

but i take it you guys are talking original tracks here….......i’ll have to go with vienna. its a good song and it really has a euro vibe to it but its not that good to me. kinda bums me out when he closes the show with it.

ew I would agree that would suck to have as a show closer. I mean it’s nice but I’d have to agree that it isn’t one of my top five, that and Wash Away.

I can’t remember where I heard it/saw it, but I believe that Trying to Lose my Mind was written when he was recovering from his knee stuff, bed-ridden and on pain killers.  He felt like he was losing his mind.

trying to lose my mind was written in recent times but it IS about his injury and how he used to play music to get away from the pain, and recovery. he would play albums and get lost in its stories, time era. etc.

oh and “miss magnolia” is about a chick he met at a brothel in germany!

LOL

I asked him about the line in Cold December… “Swallowing glass just to stay pure”.  He told me he’d rather I stay curious about that one.  I can only imagine, if that’s really what MM is about.  Any insight on that one, Fretless? haha

I’ve wondered about the swallowing glass line for a while, and I literally cannot figure out what it means, or even come close. And my degree is in this sort of thing (english/literary analysis). I guess I fail at my degree….? And of course he would say that. I hate when they do that/love it at the same time. I just want to sit down with him, have a beer, and say, “OK, go. Tell me EVERYTHING. Or ANYTHING.”
