Best/Worst Live Show Ever

What is the best live show you have ever seen?

As far a lights and what not i’d have to say U2, their stage was amazing

As far as crowd energy and stage presence I would have to say either 311 or Linkin Park

As far as just flat out floored by the performance I’d have to say Robert Cray (went to see Eric Clapton and Robert Cray opened, stole the stage from Clapton I thought. Dont’ get me wrong, Clapton was awesome, but Cray was unexpected so his performance sank in more).

Best small venue show I’ve seen was of a reggae band, Jah Roots, their stage presence is a amazing, they jsut ring so much energy. The crowds they get are always a lot of fun, everyone is dancing and into the music, and the music is good.

Worst live show ever, Def Lepard, saw them with Journey, Journey opened… Def Lepard sucked, hahaha, boring show, and the one encore song, pore some sugar on me, haha. Its like “yeah, we aren’t going to hear the song your known for, right”. I at least like when you get an encore and you have a ton of songs you’d like to hear but know you are only going to get a few. So yeah, do not recommend seeing Def Lepard.

Thats a tough question, I don’t know that Ive ever been to the “Worst” live show, maybe not quite as Badass as others.

top 7 greats would be
1) Paul McCartney ‘02
2) Donovan too many times to count
3) Bob Dylan/Paul Simon double bill ‘97(ish)
4) Jethro Tull ‘97(ish)
5) Matt Costa ‘08
6) Devendra Banhart ‘07
7) Any Ricky Valente show

Yeah no kidding, I had to pay through the nose for a decent seat, because it came with a package deal Bus Trip and Dinner at the hard rock beforehand.  It was the ONLY way I could score a ticket though.

is it just because you don’t like them or do they perform horribly?
I really like the Dave Matthews Band

Dave Mathews is a great live act and but after seeing them for the 13th time a couple of years ago it got repetitive. I do plan on seeing them live in Staples Center this coming August. Every couple of years isn’t bad.

Best- No Doubt at Hammerstein Ballroom.  2/24/03.  (Irving Plaza in 2001 is a close second).
Worst- I’m sure I’ve seen some pretty crappy unsigned local bands…so crappy I didn’t bother to remember the name of the band.

best show is tied: pearl jam at the music box in LA (smallest show they have played in the US since before they were big and i showed up with no tickets and still got in free) BUT that show is tied with dave matthews at the staples center when i was in 7th grade (First arena concert of my life as well as first ever night of drinking!)

worst show: HANDS DOWN kiss live at wango tango 03. i had free all access passes so i went for the food and girls but saw little of the show. i think santana did ok but other than that its all POP. got to meet and hang out with joe millionare and briefly met tom cruise.

Best Show:  Probably Phish at Big Cypress, 12/31/1999.  They played all night long until the sun rose.  The music itself wasn’t the *best*, but the energy there was beyond compare.

I’d have to give honorable mentions to:

Karl Denson at the Paradise in 2002 (I think?).  I think the term “musical orgasm” comes to mind.  He brought the energy level up and down so many times I thought I would lose my mind when he got to the peaks.

Rusted Root at the Paladium (1999 maybe?) was also fantastic.  They kept the entire room dancing all night with the energy they brought.  We cheered so loudly that they were cheering for US.  :)

Worst show would have to be Bob Dylan back in 2001.  I know you can’t really understand him well in general, but it was really bad.  I don’t think I caught more than 5 words the whole time.  The band behind him was awful, too.  We would have left had Phil Lesh not been playing after him.

I have seen a lot of shows… But the best… mmmmmmmh

1) Jamie Cullum (Strasbourg 06)
2) Jamiroquai (Colmar 06)
3) Dionysos (Strasbourg 05)
4) Hotel Café Tour 2008 (Cary Brothers, Greg Laswell, Tom McRae)
4) Damien SAEZ (Strasbourg 05)
5) Matt Costa (Munchen 08)
6) Muse (Strasbourg 03)
The Servant, Norah Jones, Ash, Aaron were also pretty good shows…
And a lot of French bands i know were really good too

For the worse :
The Kooks ! They played 45 minutes and just left the stage. The singer was awful it was just horrible ! Panic At the Disco were also really bad !

And about my last show i don’t know if it was good or not. I’ve seen G Love and Special Sauce, that was just awesome. But then Jack Johnson started playing and a big storm just came and it was raining a fu**ing lot and it was cold ! They stopped the show after 1h30 so… I don’t know if it was the best of the worse but i won’t forget it !

The Music, Magic, Makepeace Tour was probably one of the best shows that I’ve ever been to with Justin Kredible hosting and the Makepeace Brothers and Bushwalla co-headlining with Jason Mraz. Sounds cheesy, but there was magic and the show overall flowed really well. The Makepeace Brothers and Bush entertained outside before the show and after the show actually started there was someone performing from the beginning till the end. Other great performances I have seen:
-Eric Hutchinson
-Spoon
-Ben Lee
-Matt Costa
-Phantom Planet

The worst act I’ve ever seen is a band called the Bridges-they weren’t that bad, but they played after the band Locksley (who were amazing and had loads of energy) and they were boooooring.

I have to second on the Music, Magic and Makepeace Tour! When I heard about it I thought it was going to be so dumb but I had to see Mraz again, it had been so long. It was easily one of the best shows I’ve been to. They really broke down that wall between artist and fan. All the acts were amazing and I hope to catch them all again.

If you’re on the east coast, the Makepeace Brothers are doing a tour right now and J-Kreds is doing a tour/is about to do one so…definitely check these guys out. I’ve had the opportunity to hang out with all of them and they are some of the nicest boys you’ll ever meet-and super talented.
