I have to agree I can’t believe this is actually being debated about… I feel it doesn’t really matter what way he swings just as long as he keeps making his great music and I think it’s rather invasive…hate me for it but I just don’t think this should be such a hot topic… |

For sure it doesn’t matter, I’m pretty sure the fact that Matt’s had other girlfriends at least gives hope to other women (e.g., me) (though I’ve read several times that one of the last ones kept burying his recording equipment when he toured, and I feel like that would put ME off for a while)... and that interviewer should have hit on him right back. Lord knows I would have. And quite shamelessly. he’s not gay, but i think it’s funny that anyone would say that. he and my sister we together for around 7 years (off and on) and she is who he’s talking about in the interview. i just had to post this to stick up for her. she never buried anything of his, and went with him on tour a lot of the time. she was a university student, which is why she didn’t go more. i don’t know why he would say that. i guess it sounds interesting… |

i’m sure. i’ve known him for a long time. he actually told her that he had made that statement. like i said, it sounds more interesting. don’t get me wrong, he’s a great guy with amazing talent. his new album is pretty amazing. i remember when he first played mr. pitiful in my parents living room. he just had pieces of it then. i just had to respond when that came up about my sister. i’ll leave it alone now… |

But that’s so effing weird that anyone would make stuff up like that. Sorry, I just have high expectations from everyone ... kind of an idealist that way. I just find that particularly bizarre. And PS I obviously didn’t know it was your sister, and I hope I didn’t offend you. I just figure, you say something in an interview, it’s because there’s some truth to it, and as a writer, an angry girlfriend burying your stuff in the backyard is a pretty amazing image, so I kind of fell in love with it. |

You’re right about the whole gay thing. I’m a fairly new fan of Matt. We saw him last night in Dallas & I’m still enjoying the adrenaline rush from it. The show was great & he was so nice to us. |
