Last night was a lot of fun! Matt was just hanging out so I went and chatted for a bit. I asked him about Sweet Thursday bc I had just drove up to Monterey last Thursday and then he opened the show with it solo and a few other songs including Sunshine, Astair. The middle of the show was the new band and all new songs (a bunch of them including Handsome Hands). He ended with Dylan - You Ain’t Goin Nowhere. The new band is all really young with lots of energy… no mitch, no jacob :( Very different and I’m still digesting. I felt like there was a lot of experimentation going on with sound. It wasn’t as clean as his older stuff (but that could have been a result of it all being new). Oh and Casey really only sang back up on songs. I am going to try and see him in SD on Sat (I’ll be down there already) or in LA on Sunday bc I need to hear it again. |
