recent radio performance

Hi everyone,

I’ve been watching this forum for a while now, but I decided I needed to finally post something when I found this:

This link contains a link to a totally weird and random radio-type performance Matt did recently. He plays some amazing new songs that I’ve never heard before, and some new ones that he has played at shows.

JUST BE WARNED - the whole thing is really long, and generally obnoxious and rude and raunchy- I kind of can’t even believe Matt went there at all! But he comes on around the middle of this thing. It’s totally worth going through all that crap for it.

so he played:

“long wait” [he called it something else, i think?]
a new song 2nd [anybody able to decipher title?]
“witchcraft” [YAY. VERY YAY!! hate how echo-y it is, though. makes him sound off somehow]
“painted face” [another new song!]
“josephine” [ANOTHER EXPRESSION OF JOY HERE!]

and that’s where i am thus far.

anyone know the name of the second song he played, or the one after josephine?

hahaha ummmm, negative.
but i would take a stab and say the one after josephine is called something like “won’t you come inside?” or “don’t hold your love inside” or “darling, there’s nothing i wouldn’t do”
we should temp. name it something (;

AND WHAT ABOUT THIS SONG PLAYING AFTER THAT ONE.
ohmann.
it sounds like an old western song.
the whistle and everything hahahaha

the western= “this time, next time, i’ll be ready”
haha
i’m sad it’s not an album, though. i really, really love it.
all of these are making me ohso happy (:

A belated thank you for posting the video!

Song #2 makes me cry every time I listen to it. I think the echo works very well with it somehow.

I’m dying for a new cd! I hope it’s coming soon.

He played song #2 at the San Francisco show last month and it was great. It’s so neat to see the songs evolve over time. This next album is going to be amazing! The video got rid of some of that awful echo so I second that thank you.

yay!  thanks for sharing this!  Here’s the approximate timing for (most of) the songs, in case anyone gets as annoyed as I did having to listen to the chatter.

1:14:45 Bleeding Heart
1:19:00 ??  I’m calling it “Lost and Found”
1:21:45 Witchcraft
1:47:50 Painted Face
1:53:15 Josephine
1:58:00 ??  “Last Call”
2:01:15 This Time, Next Time, I’ll be Ready
2:07:00 Unfamiliar Faces
2:40:30 Magnetic Fingers

Thanks to everyone for listening to our awful, boring and raunchy radio show.. Matt was the nicest dude..  he came in with his buddy Raymond, who had been into the show a couple weeks earlier and we all just hung out and had a great time, think wine, beer, music and friends all soaked in a ton of echo and reverb.  I mean, how many people get to do a radio show out of their garage and have people like Matt just drop by for an evening and play your own personal concert, we always feel very lucky.  I mean honestly he didn’t even announce it or any thing, wasn’t doing it for exposure, just wanted to try out a new pedal and some effects and hang out with some new people.  We always record the shows and when the music is great we post them up for people like you.. his fans.. to listen to, we could just keep them to ourselves.  I’ll be honest, the show we do is purely for our own satisfaction, its a very selfish endeavor for the 2 of us.  We selfishly put together a forum that allows amazing musicians, friends and others to perform their songs, or to just come by and hangout every Monday night to relax and have a drink and some good fun.  We’re lazy, so we figured out a way for people to come to us, and in exchange, we get to hear the most amazing music, for free, and meet new friends all the time.  If this sounds interesting, and you can deal with language, keep checking back to gtfuradio.com for upcoming podcasts and shows.  Keith Morris, from Circle Jerks and Black Flag, will be in for a couple shows in April to give us the full history of his punk experience.

peace and hairgrease

Aw, GTFU, it may have been raunchy, and yeah, at times a little boring, but Matt’s performance was completely awesome, and as I said previously, totally worth getting through all the stuff for it, which was indeed at times also amusing. I am so grateful that it happened, and that you guys recorded it, and posted a link. And please, don’t ever move the link, ‘cause I’ve got that thing bookmarked (‘cause I’m so addicted to Song #2).

:-)

Anyway, thank you, and good luck with your show!
