yay!  ‘blood of man’ finally arrived in the mail!  i ordered it from newbury comics because the odds that a record store near me would have it were slim, and i didn’t want to travel between a bunch of stores searching…and the pre-order came with a signed cd booklet.

i don’t think kids today fully appreciate an ‘album’...both the physical object with the liner notes and artwork and the art of putting together a group of 10-14 songs.

anyway, i’m excited to be listening to this album right now smile

I love the new album too and totally agree about appreciating the whole package.  So I had the honor of meeting Mason this summer and in my usual buzzed stupor, I told him how much I appreciated his line in the ballad for my one true love where he says “God bless the babies that sleep inside you.
I told him it makes tears shoot out of my eyes. He then proceeds to smile sheepishly and say, “oh no, you have it all wrong…what I meant was God bless the RABIES that sleeps inside you. You see we had a dog, it got bit and we had to put him down…it was very sad.”. Needless to say I was speechless for a few seconds until we all busted up laughing….what a nice, funny, witty and laid back guy!!!  My hubbie and I just adore him!

okay, i might be talking to myself here…but mason’s show was awesome last night.  i really like how under-produced the blood of man album is…it makes it seem more rough and tough…but hearing it live (he played every track from BoM except sunlight) was so clear and powerful.  he played for close to 2 hours, and i could have stayed for another 2.  a-maz-ing.  he may have just passed matt costa on the awesomeness scale (sorry matt).

Good for you! I will be seeing him (again) at the TLA this Sunday…I cannot wait!  When I saw him in Montauk he played a lot of his former songs plus sunlight and the field so I am even more excited to know he’ll be playing the new stuff!!!! Hooray!!!!

Then, I guess you would recommend that I go see him when he comes around next month? I was thinking about it before, but now… I just might have to.

he played a lot of old songs, too…perhaps more old songs than BoM, even with 9 BoM songs.  I have boneclouds, if you need a reason ep, in the ever, and BoM, but he played probably 4 songs that I didn’t recognize, that I can only assume were older than those albums.  Plus a cover, and an old folk song, and among the other songs i knew/remember now were Fighter Girl, Your New Man, Soldier Boy, Be Here Now, Jackson Square, and Which Way Your Heart Will Go.  that’s all i remember…it was all crazy good.
