I think its more about the feeling of jealousy and/or the feeling that you’re being two-timed. It burns, and the whole visual aspect of a cigarette—hot, glowing, smoldering, that sort of thing—carries that feeling. At least I think so. I could be way off base.

I think he means his eyes have a filter, like a cigarette. “She lies, but I know ‘cause I’ve got cigarette eyes”. Filter’s out the lies to find the truth. Not that smoke is truth, but you get it
